New Year = New Gigs

Wow, two posts in one day! Must be something wrong . This year I have five gigs lined up already, it's all systems go, which is great. I will be going to the following:

Velvet Revolver (March)
Girls Aloud (May)
Bon Jovi (June)
Foo Fighters (June)
Jimmy Carr (July, my birthday).

So it's all good and the latter half of the year still free for gigs. It's all good

Days after going to see them at the O2, I've already bought my tickets for the Foo Fighters gig at Wembley Stadium next June (06/06/08). Gonna friggin' rock! Pitch side tickets too, so no nosebleed tickets for me this time Anyone else going? Let me know

Foo Fighters, They Just ROCK!

On Sunday I went and saw the Foo Fighters at The O2 with John, Fake Scott and Lisa. Unfortunately, we found out once we were there that although we knew we would be seated and quite high up, we were actually at the back of the back of the back! Doh! But hey, we didn't care.

We missed the first support band (boohoo), and we kind of wished we'd missed the other support act, Serj Tankian. Dave Grohl said that he was one of the nicest guys in rock. Be that as it may, he was shit. Most of the time we wondered what the hell was going on with his stage act. Combined, we managed to understand one solitary word of his songs: "world."

The Foos kicked off their 2hr 15min setlist with Let It Die, one of the new songs off the new record, which really got everyone going, and it never dipped. The band were phenomenal, never relenting. Half way through the show, they came to the mini stage in the centre of the arena and did what was essentially an acoustic set, which was just as good as the blistering rock songs that had been played before it.

The Foo Fighters are back in London in June, headlining a one-off gig at Wembley Stadium. Guess who has presales access to the tickets Pictures from the night are in the usual place.

Got my tickets today to go and see the Foo Fighters at the O2 Arena in London. They went on sale at 9am this morning, so I got to work, found the nearest free PC and parked myself there until I had got some 9am rolls on, and already it looks like most of the standing tickets are unavailable This always seems to happen when I try and get tickets that just are just going on sale on Ticketmaster, I've found it to be pretty crap.

But, in the end, I got tickets for the Sunday gig, although I'll be seated. But at least I'll be there So November sees me going to the Foo Fighters, then the following weekend I'll be seeing Bill Bailey

Scissor Sisters, Again

Last night John and I went to the new O2 Arena in London, it used to be the millennium dome (and is still a big dome). It's kinda weird, cos it's been there for all these years and it's the first time I've actually been to it. Well, now I have.

The reason for going to it was to go and see the Scissor Sisters again. You might remember John and I went and watched them in Bournemouth last November, but this was completely different. The set was better, the venue was bigger, the performance was bigger! What made it even better than Bournemouth was we weren't up in the damn balcony area sat down, miles from the stage! We got a lot closer to the stage this time (as you will see in the pictures). The only kind of down side to the evening was the support, who I was bored of after the first few bongo taps! It was some weird African band that just defies logic as to why they would be supporting someone like the Scissor Sisters.

The sad thing for me though, is that's it until October now. I have no more gigs/shows/concerts lined up until October, when I go and watch Big Yin again as he's doing a couple of dates in Bournemouth . So to last me until the end of the year, I have Big Yin, Bill Bailey and the Manics... Hmmm, need to see what else is on!

What Next, Boss?

Well, it's been a while since I went to a gig of some kind, back of November and I'm kinda missing going to them. But not to worry, I have two more dates lined up, hopefully a third soon, just waiting on a couple of people.

These are the three shows:

They are from L-R: Bryan Adams (11th May), Jimmy Carr (23rd June) and Farrah (26th Jan)

The one I'm hopeful about is Farrah, I haven't seen this band in years. They're a very unknown band (although big in Japan) and I first saw them when I went and watched Four Star Mary in Portsmouth with Mari a few years ago. They are just a happy, cheesy pop/rock band. Great fun to see live. If anyone fancies coming along, it's being held at the barfly in Camden, London. If you fancy it, let me know

Bryan Adams is just another of those artists who I just fancy seeing live, so Alex and I are gonna go see him at the Wembley Arena. And then there's Jimmy Carr, who is a comedian whos warped and twisted sense of humour matches my own to a tee! Going to see him with Chris, Johnno and Mike (from work) at the Bournemouth Pavillion.

Sadly, those are the only acts I'm scheduled to see at the moment, but I'm always on the lookout .

Alex and I went and watched Evanescence last night. They were very good, and always seems strange to me that Amy Lee (the singer) has such an amazing voice and yet she is in that kind of band. But there we go, I find things strange a lot of the time.

I was gonna write a more detailed review of the evening, including Emos, Greebles, and a camera ban, but right at this time I can't be arsed. They were good, that's enough for now.

I Don't Feel Like Dancing... Yes I Do [Updated]

John, Jodie and I went and watched the Scissor Sisters last night, and they were really good. The support was crap, and I mean terrible, I don't know who they were, but please, don't let them release anything else. Because of who we were going to see, John and I decided to camp things up a little, so I borrowed a pink fairy wand and a tiara for John, and I had some pink scarf like thing (you'll see in the picture).

The three of us were sat upstairs in the balcony area, and all throughout the show, the stewards kept telling people to sit down and stop dancing around, until the penultimate song I Don't Feel Like Dancing, when the whole of the balcony stood up and started dancing around, I think they just gave up .

I have taken some pictures, and they are waiting to be put up, but I'm going through the process of changing my ISP, and at the moment, I don't have the internet at home and didn't bring the pictures into work with me. They will be up as soon as possible though .

And After The Scissor Sisters....

... There will be Evanescence on the 20th November. Going to be a busy week, Scissor Sisters on the 16th November, the new James Bond film on the 17th, then Evanescence on the 20th. Should be all good though .

Just booked tickets for my next gig, but will have to wait until November 16th for it. This time I will be going to see Scissor Sisters. Going with John and his missus (Ginger Claire), should be a good evening .

Rolling Stones in Cardiff

Last night I went up to Cardiff to watch the Rolling Stones, part of their Bigger Bang UK Tour. They started the show off with Jumpin' Jack Flash, which got the crowd right up and into the swing of things; after that, they went straight into a stunning version of It's Only Rock And Roll. Jagger was running from one end of the stage to the other with the energy and vigour of a man in his twenties, not someone who is 63!

Half way through, they all got onto a small spot of the main stage, which then lifted up and moved along a pathway to the centre of the stadium, in the middle of the crowd to a small (very small) stage, which was cool, it brought it closer to me without moving Whilst they were on that small stage, they had a big ass mouth and tongue inflated where the main screen was. Once back on the main stage though, that was deflated so that the main screen could be used again.

Keith Richards (guitarist) sang a couple of songs, too. Sorry Keith, stick to playing the guitar... I always find it funny with Jagger though, whenever he talks, he just sounds like a stereotypical Brit, just something you don't hear nowadays. They finished off the whole show with (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction, and the whole band and extras took their place together on the stage for a bow.

I'm not a massive Stones fan, I like some of their songs, but that's always been about it really, but I felt that this was one of those bands that I just had to see live, especially as this is probably going to be their last tour. And I have no regrets about going, they were excellent, and considering their combined age between the four of them is almost 250, they still look like they want to keep going, which just adds to their appeal.

I was also surprised to see so many young people there, but speaking to one of the stewards, they said there's a lot of live music fans in Cardiff who don't care about any particular band, just like to see the live music. My kind of people

Well, I would normally have put this on at the time, but forgot. Ordered my ticket for Bon Jovi!!! Going to see them for the third time on 09/06/06 at St Mary's (Southampton's footie ground). I think it would have been cool to go to the one at the Ricoh Arena (home of the mighty Sky Blues), but Neil and Sam had already bought their tickets and I don't think they and Alex would have wanted to go to Coventry, canny really blame them though.... Haha.

Went and watched Velvet Revolver last night! Bloody hell they were good! Slash is a GOD!!! In the immortal words of Wayne Cambell: "We're not worthy! We're not worthy!!" I will be putting some pics and vids up of the evening soon, so stay tuned.
